Energy Bill Becomes Law
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 extended
many consumer tax incentives originally introduced in the Energy
Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT) and amended in the Emergency Economic
Stabilization Act of 2008 (P.L. 110-343). Businesses, utilities,
and governments are also eligible for tax credits.

Wireless Leak
Detection

This system could save your home from
being severely damaged by a water leak that occurs while you
are away or asleep. Water pipes run through your
entire home and are used by many home appliances such as:
dishwashers, clothes washing machines, hot water heaters,
water softeners, and toilets. If one of these
appliances fails, the result could be water flowing into
your home. Freezing temperatures can also cause pipe
breaks and subsequent water flooding. Here are some
statistics to think about: Every year more than
250,000 homes sustain water damage caused by leaking or
ruptured water pipes, washing machine hose failures alone
cause approximately $150 million in damage to homes in North
America each year, approximately 5 million hot water heaters
rupture each year.
This system can detect water leaks or
freezing water in pipes, and automatically shut off
your home's water supply, preventing or limiting severe
damage to your home. It also can be interfaced with
your home automation system (e.g. Stargate, Ocelot, etc.) to
report the system's status and to be manually controlled
from inside your home, or from a remote location.
Key Features and Specifications
- Receiver
- Installs in-line on your home's
main water supply pipe.
- Normally installed right after
your home's manual water valve.
- Contains a high quality
motorized ball valve that opens and closes to shut
off or open main water supply to home.
- Won't restrict water flow when
valve is opened, and completely shuts off water flow
when valve is closed.
- Valve can be manually
closed/opened by pressing buttons on the receiver.
- Lights indicate whether valve
is opened or closed (green = open, red = closed).
- Requires properly grounded
115VAC power (8 foot power cord provided).
- In a power failure, valve
remains in last state when power is restored.
- Wireless Water Sensors
- You can use an unlimited amount
of wireless water sensors throughout your home.
- The probe on the wireless
sensor is at the end of a 6 foot small wire. The
probe is what detects water.
- Range of sensor is 150 to 175
feet depending on mounting location of sensor and
receiver.
- Sensor probe contacts are gold
plated for reliability.
- Frequency is between 400 and
500 MHz.
- Dip switches are provided on
sensors and receivers to change communication codes.
- Uses AA batteries with
estimated life of 1 year. Low battery condition is
announced by "chirp".
- Optional AC Adapter available.
- Wireless Freeze Sensors
- Sensor clamps over water pipe
and detects freezing of water (35 - 37 degrees F.)
- You can use an unlimited amount
of freeze sensors throughout your home.
- Range of sensor is 150 to 175
feet depending on mounting location of sensor and
receiver.
- Frequency is between 400 and
500 MHz.
- Dip switches are provided on
sensors and receivers to change communication codes.
- Uses AA batteries with
estimated life of 1 year. Low battery condition is
announced by "chirp".
- Home Automation or Alarm
System Interface
- Has a built-in I/O board with 6
screw terminals.
- Can be used with a home
automation controller to automatically close or open
the valve when you leave from or return to your
home. Great to include in a "vacation" mode/macro
to automatically turn off the water supply to your
home while you are on vacation. If your home
automation system has paging or verbal notification
capabilities (like
Stargate does) you can be
paged when a water leak is detected, in addition
to the system automatically shutting off the
water supply.
- Can be used with alarm systems
to automatically shut off your home's water supply
when the alarm is armed in "Away" mode. This
operation requires your alarm panel to have
terminals that would provide separate contact
closures when the "Away" mode is activated and
deactivated. You can also connect the leak
detection system to your alarm system as a separate
zone that will sound the alarm when a leak is
detected.
- Contact closures will close or
open valve. Separate terminals are provided for
open and close to ensure intended operation.
- Receiver can report the open or
closed state of the valve with opened or closed
output contacts (both NO and NC contacts provided).
- Specifications and
Warranty
- Available in 1/2, 3/4, and 1
inch models (the size of your home's main water
supply pipe).
- Maximum working water pressure
is 125 PSIG.
- Valve material: brass.
- Size of receiver (inches): 6.5
x 11.0 (incl. 5 inch antenna) x 4.0
- Size of sensor (inches) 2.75 x
10.0 (incl. 6 inch antenna) x .75
- Warranty: 1 year provided by
manufacturer
